H. Larry Eason Way

On September 29, 2026, the city of Macon issued a proclamation renaming a portion of Emory Avenue in front of Greater Little Rock Baptist Church in honor of the late Rev. Hollis Larry Eason. Eason was the former pastor of Greater Little Rock and made numerous contributions that improved the church and community during his tenure. He helped to renovate the church and established a 501©3 non-profit, Out and Up, Inc., whose major program was Joshua House Early Care and Learning Center, a 3-star rated early learning center that endeavored to improve outcomes for children from low to moderate income families.

Eason was the youngest of 10 children, a 1969 graduate of Peter G. Appling High School, where he excelled in baseball, a Vietnam-era Navy veteran, an entrepreneur and co-founder of Eason-Walker Insurance and later Eason and Eason Insurance. He was a husband, father, grandfather, uncle and leader of his family.
